WikiTree has his dates as 14 Apr 1647 - 1717, b. Ripon, Yorkshire, England & d. York, Hampton, Virginia. It appears that the Find a Grave lineage from this point is probably the correct one. 

MyHeritage follows the Sampson Cooper line with the earlier birth dates

These two lines have to be completely separate people. The Find a Grave and FamilySearch records seem to be the most likely, especially considering the existence of known burial sites.
